Weeks after husband’ s burial, Betty Akeredolu, endorses Ondo Guber Aspirant
Betty, the widow of former late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is trending.
This development is courtesy of pictures she took with a gubernatorial aspirant, Olugbenga Omogbemi Edema.
The pictures are being interpreted as campaigning for Edema who is a former Chairman of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
The pictures released by the campaign team of the gubernatorial aspirant – Gbenga Edema Media – were taken during a condolence visit to Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu.
The pictures were released on Friday, March 8, 2024 along with the narrative “A condolence visit to Betty Akeredolu earlier today in Owo.
We should all do our best to #InspireInclusion even in our own small corners. Here’s to celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere.” The narrative came with the hashtags “#Igbega2024” and “#Igbega2025”.
While Igbega (upliftment) is one of the campaign slogans for Edema’s gubernatorial campaign, the sign adopted by the duo in the pictures was used to celebrate the recent International Women’s Day – a symbol of women empowerment of a sort.
Edema who is also a former lawmaker started his campaign to become the next Governor of Ondo state in 2023.
He is up against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Olusola Oke, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, and a handful of others in the race to become the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress for the September 21, 2024, Ondo state gubernatorial election.
Betty Anyanwu recently publicly called out a niece of her late husband for supporting the ambition of Governor Aiyedatiwa to retain power for the next four years.
