The Green Dignity Kit Project Takes Initiative To Kwara State
The Green Dignity Kit project is a special initiative of the Green Girl Company aimed at sensitizing young girls and creating awareness and self-esteem on menstrual hygiene practices.
Green Kit distribution is a social impact intervention program that involves the sensitization and distribution of a collection of items required to help young ladies go through their menstrual cycle without having to miss any day at school. These items we collectively call the Green Dignity Kit (GDK) and they include re-usable sanitary pads, panty-liners, deodorants, hand sanitizers amongst many other items.
The mission of this project is to debunk myths surrounding menstruation, enlighten beneficiaries on how to manage their period better, and provide them with the necessary tools.
This intervention project will also educate these young girls with the necessary menstrual hygiene practices and stigmatization, as this is still an issue that is often encouraged through certain cultural norms. We look towards reaching an annual target of 50,000 girls with these kits.
The Pilot phase kicked off in Kwara State on the 29th of July with the distribution of the Green Dignity kits and menstrual hygiene sensitization to over 200 students in ECWA Secondary school, ECWA Day Secondary School, and Government Day Secondary school, Agbabiaka.
The sensitization program was graced by the office of the first lady of Kwara State, Ambassador Dr. Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrasaq, who was actively represented by the commissioner of women affairs, Mrs. Bosede Aremu. Also in attendance was the 41st Miss Nigeria, Mildred Peace Ehiguese.
