Oba Kuoye Sets The Record Straight, Says, “I Remained The Olu of Imasayi Kingdom

The newly crowned  Olu-Imasayi, Prince Kuoye Lukman Olalekan, has finally doused  the tension in his community over the crisis concerning his selection as the new ruler of  Imasayi Kingdom, an ancient town in Yewa Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Oba Kuoye in his reaction to the protest said he remained the Olu of Imasayi after being carefully  selected by the deity,  the kingmakers and received staff of Office from the Ogun State Government.

Recall the town in the last few weeks had been in turmoil as a result of a protest staged  by some residents against the king, describing the selection process as politically motivated.

Checks confirmed that  one Akinleye R A better known as Elesemeji and described as  controversial personality, is been fingered as the sponsor behind the protest.

Further checks revealed that  before now, Akinleye has been suspended from the palace by the late Oba George Olude between 1982-1989 and the suspension was also inherited by the Oba Gbadebo Idowu Oni, Arbio III, which was not lifted during his thirty year reign.

Reacting to the crisis, the monarch has dismissed the claim, saying his emergence followed due process, noting that whoever not satisfied with the selection should seek redress in court.

“They just thought of creating a scene on the issue that doesn’t warrant any issue”, the king enthused.

An Indigene of the town while speaking with one of  our correspondents said the beauty of the four months reign of Oba Kuoye is the fact that things have been going on well since his emergence, assuring that the king would change the tide of the town with his wealth of experience and exposure.

He added that his experience in public service, spanning over two decades; and the people of the kingdom are unanimous in their belief that his reign will usher peace and social development to the town
