Excitement As AIG Ahmed Iliyasu Takes A Bow
Thursday, May 27 was a glorious day for an unblemished senior police officer, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ahmed IIiyasu as many converged at the premises of Zone 2, Police Command, Onikan, Lagos to witness the pulling out ceremony of IIiyasu many called The Lion by admirers, lovers, and fans.
Despite their masks neatly covering their nostrils and mouths, the excitement and jollity on the guest’s faces as the color party and marching out parade, heralding the grand entrance of Ahmed into the party arena added fun and style to the event.
Dignitaries from all walks of life royals fathers, top politicians, several men, and women from other security operatives including the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC)) from the South West and other parts of the country were all on the ground to celebrate the man of means.
The outpouring of love towards AIG IIiyasu from the both police and civilian community present at the send forth party was not surprising. AIG Liyasu is a man whose sterling qualities distinguished him in the service. . His integrity, intelligence, diligence, tactical discipline, justice, honesty, exemplary leadership style, inclusiveness, and above all, the fear of God in him were never in doubt.
Little wonder, the remark of many including his colleagues both senior and junior officers was a testament to his good conduct and character all through his tenure.
Folarin, President of a civil society group described IIIyasu as a good man, thorough and professional man in all ramifications
“He is an intelligent officer who has contributed immensely to all decisions that are taken by the management towards running the police force under the leadership of the several Inspector General police. I wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Aside from the police family, Ahmed received accolades from the media men, the journalist speaking through Samson Oki, the President, The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), praised IIiyasu for his open-door policy all through his 35 years of meritorious service, adding that Ahmed personality is very hard to come by.
“We want to congratulate you sir for working for this nation, serving your motherland, and having good support here. You are a media-friendly person. My colleagues and I from the media so much believe in you and we will always be with you even in your retirement
Ahmed in his remarks appreciated many who was with him during his active service to the nation, thanking God for the successful tenure.
“I am elated and full of gratitude as today marks the end of a fulfilling career as a police officer. What more? it is also my 60th birthday! I give all glory to Allah”, he said.
