AFF announces Encore screening of 2025’s most popular films
Because we don’t want to say goodbye just yet…Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) has announced encore screenings of six of its most popular titles next Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th October at Palace Nova Eastend.
Local audience favourites Jimpa, Diabolic and The Run will screen with Jimpa director, Adelaide’s Sophie Hyde, introducing her film on Monday at 6pm. Jimpa is a richly personal queer-family story about an Adelaide filmmaker, their teenager and a gay grandfather who reunite in Amsterdam, reigniting buried tensions and unexpected bonds.
Diabolic will screen at 8.30pm and will be introduced by director Daniel J. Phillips. Featured in AFF’s Late Night program, Phillips gives audiences everything they could ask for – a religious cult, a troubled young woman, hallucinogenic therapy, and an evil that refuses to die!
Tuesday evening sees the return of the Cannes Palme d’Or-winning It Was Just An Accident, directed by Jafar Panahi; followed by the Brazilian political thriller The Secret Agent, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, which blends surreal invention with the ruthless realities of 1970s dictatorship.
On Wednesday night is Sirât, the Festival’s mind-blowing Friday Night Party film, directed by Oliver Laxe, which had audiences gasping in response and dancing into the night; followed by South Australian film The Run, directed by Stephen de Villiers, set in a near future, when a plague has ravaged the land, human reproduction is a thing of the past’ and anarchy reigns. Producer Chloe Gardner will introduce the film.
