FrieslandCampina WAMCO renames Academy after Olu Akinkugbe
FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC has commissioned its newly upgraded, state-of-the-art learning and development centre and named it ‘Chief Olu Akinkugbe Academy’ in honour of its founding Chairman, now late. This was done at the company’s headquarters in Lagos, a few days ago, before Christmas.
The academy was renamed to immortalise Chief Akinkugbe’s exceptional contributions to FrieslandCampina WAMCO and his broader impact on Nigeria’s socioeconomic and dairy development. Widely regarded as one of the nation’s most respected industrialists, Chief Akinkugbe played a foundational role in establishing the company’s legacy of excellence, professionalism, and responsible business leadership.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Chairman, Board of Directors, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Mr. Yinka Sanni, described the moment as a significant milestone for the organisation. He said, “Chief Olu Akinkugbe laid the cornerstone on which FrieslandCampina WAMCO stands today.
“Naming this academy after him is our way of honouring a visionary whose leadership and values continue to guide us. This facility will serve as a centre of learning and inspiration for generations to come” Sanni said.
The academy features modern facilities designed to support a wide range of activities, including lectures, conferences, training programmes, seminars, and workshops. Equipped with advanced technology and flexible, multi-purpose spaces, the centre will enhance capability-building initiatives within the organisation and contribute to broader human capital development across Nigeria.
The commissioning reinforces FrieslandCampina WAMCO’s longstanding commitment to strengthening leadership capacity, fostering continuous learning, and recognising individuals who have shaped the company’s history and growth.
